INTERNeX World

August 31, 2010 Leave a comment

I am working right now on a new exiting project for INTERNeX International Exchange. The new online presents for the company will be found at internexworld.com and will give you more information about the programs and services INTERNeX has to offer. The site will have more pictures and will be (hopefully) more fun, since the original content was a bit dry. But the service INTERNeX offers need a bit of an explanation, since it is not a car or computer they sell. INTERNeX main focus is to offer tailor made internships to students who want to get work experience in their field of study abroad.

I, as the head of the online presents, had a hard time to reflect the complex service on the web, but every update, in my opinion, became better and better. INTERNeX started in 1999 in Vancouver BC Canada and since 2009 offers their service in New Zealand as well.

The original main website internexcanada.com became more a kind of online magazine for the clients in Canada, so that we decided to move the explanation part of the services to another level, since we are planing to have another community in New Zealand as well.

This week I am finishing the first draft of the website and will be hopefully soon able to publish what we have so far. That will give you the opportunity to have a peak how the website will change over the next couple weeks until the official launch.

As I said it is an exiting project and I welcome everyone who want to be part of it :)

Just check it out at www.internexworld.com and if you want leave a comment here.

My Webproject, What do I have to know?

December 9, 2009 Leave a comment

For many clients the most important question about an online presents is of course the price. But how can we as web developer answer that question? How can we masseur such thing? I saw once an interesting article in the web from a web developer who had, in my opinion, a very good way to response to that question. He simply answered with another question, he asks his client “How much does a car cost?” The answer he gets is of course obvious “Well that would depend on the car” I personally found that is a brilliant way to get right to the point, because the cost of a website would depend as well.

Is it just one entrance page? Do you want to have a forum integrated? Do you need an online shopping system? Do you want to use a CMS?

In my opinion much more important for you as a client should be if you have a good feeling with the person you are talking about your online presents. Just think about it.  As soon as you have a website you will have to update that site, have to make changes. Maybe want to add something new to your site.

One very important fact is that a good website is never finished. You always have to update your site. Regardless what kind of business you may have. If you see your website as an ongoing project you definitely want to have someone who is taking care of your online presents in a way you feel comfortable.

A good and professional web developer knows what is possible and what not for the money you can or want to spend. Just talk about how much you are willing to spend and see what the web designer can offer. I always tell my clients to start small, to keep the costs in a normal price range. Help them to get familiar with the site that presents their business, help them to identify with the site.

Starting small helps as well to understand the mechanism in the web. I had once a client who came to me and said, very proud, that his clients saw his site and where very pleased to got all the information he provides on his site. That made him doing even more for the site and we start building a very healthy relationship.
A good partner who is taking care of your online marketing tool, your website, is in my opinion more important as to safe some Dollars in the beginning and pay more at the end.

My own Website

July 20, 2009 Leave a comment

Since ages I wanted to change my own website but always had to take care of a project and not the time to work on my site. At the end my own site became more and more a Joomla Sandbox site, where I have tested Joomla Extensions, Plugins Modules and Templates.

Well my own site always had to be a kind of Sandbox site. But I got now a good deal and can run multiple Joomla and as well other CMS on the webspace I have. Before I had a limit of two MySQL DB. Since I moved to another provider I can have 25. Well I don’t need that much, but it is good for testing out stuff.

Because I never developed my own site that much I am right now stuck with some parts :D

I don’t know what to write and some description are so bad, but I am getting to it.

Keep you updated on my Blog :)
